Does Absence make the Heart Grow Fonder?

Whilst over in Las Vegas at KronosWorks 2012, one of the things top of my exciting agenda was meetings with the press and analysts who were there to gain an insight into how Kronos provides our customers with such value and competitive advantage. I had the pleasure of showing Lizzy Anderson, section editor of Management Today, around the conference and was subsequently delighted that Lizzy agreed to publish my top ten tips for dealing with Absence in Management Today.

Absence is a key issue that customers often ask us to help with and it certainly doesn’t make the heart grow fonder, it actually costs real money, creates a lot of pressure on other members of the workforce as well as significantly, and negatively, affecting both productivity and employee engagement. Patterns of behaviour like extending the weekends with sick days, arriving late or leaving early and taking long breaks cannot be easily monitored or tracked manually and are often ignored by busy managers This makes it very difficult to manage absence across the workforce consistently.

My top 10 tips that can help organisations manage their absence can be found in Management Today here.

Viva Las Vegas! KronosWorks 2012, the Greatest Workforce Management Show in Town Has Arrived!

Almost 2,100 Kronites have descended on the Aria Resort, Las Vegas this week. #KronosWorks12 opened its doors on Sunday with a fabulous, funny keynote speech from Billy Beane and an inspirational opening presentation by CEO Aaron Ain.

My contribution earlier this week was to Chair the panel session: ‘The What, How and Why of Deploying WFM across the Globe’. On the panel I was joined by some esteemed Kronos customers who between them had a vast amount of experience and insight into large-scale and global implementations. The panel comprised: Adrian Peace of the Co-op, Paul Turner of Caterpillar Europe, Tanya Brown of Nestle Globe and Helen Delight of Pick N Pay South Africa.

There was lots of lively discussion and some common themes emerged around the need for good communication, change management and the need to understand and respect different cultures both outside and even, sometimes, within the organisation.

The panel all agreed the benefits of implementing a workforce management system across the organisation are huge. And the main areas of improvement gained from implementing a Kronos solution highlighted during the discussion were process improvements, lower costs, higher revenue and customer satisfaction, high compliance and central visibility.

Kronos and our customers were very excited at the launch at #KronosWorks12 of Workforce Tablet™, a tablet app that delivers real-time, location-specific workforce information to frontline managers so they can #manageinthemoment and even more with the release of Workforce Task Management™, which cements our ability to deliver the market’s most complete retail and hospitality workforce management solution available.

Other key highlights at this year’s event are Workforce Analytics and how it captures the essence of BIG Data, Kronos’ comprehensive and ever more popular offerings in the Cloud, and the many InTouch® apps being developed by Kronos and our partners. So proud to be working for a company that delivers ‘workforce innovation that works’!

KronosWorks 2012 – The place to be and be seen!

Maybe it’s not quite the Olympics when it comes to engaging nations, but when in Las Vegas for next week’s KronosWorks 2012  global conference I am really looking forward to meeting old friends, making new ones and hearing from our many and valued customers. They will be joining us from organisations of all sizes from across the globe, many of which are household names. They will all have one thing in common; we work in partnership with them to help them achieve real competitive advantage by increasing revenue and reducing cost.

Why do over a thousand of our customers from across the globe come to KronosWorks each year? Well, they too welcome the opportunity to meet and exchange views and opinions with fellow Kronos users at the numerous business and social networking sessions. They will also be taking advantage of the hundreds of Kronos TechKnowledgy Pre-Conference Courses, Education Workshops, Product Demonstrations and the many opportunities to meet with Kronos experts, sponsors and partners at our Expo. Visitors will get the latest information to ensure they gain the most from their investment in Kronos to help achieve their business goals and stay ahead of the competition.

Being held amongst the bright lights of Vegas at the Aria Resort gives the whole event an air of excitement and the buzz is always fantastic. What am I looking forward to most? Getting the reaction from our customers to our fantastic new products and developments and finding out what is top of their workforce management agenda for the coming year must be ranked at the top of my list, along with seeing the keynote speech from Billy Beane, subject of ‘Moneyball – The art of winning the unfair game’, and finding out more about his innovative, winning style of management and leadership.

You can follow the KronosWorks 2012 action/reaction via Twitter at #KronosWorks12 and there will be more information available thorough our other social media networks.
